Word problems
At a cinema there were one hundred (100) people waiting to buy tickets in line 1, and fifty (50) people waiting in line 2.
Question - How many people in total were waiting in line?
Answer - One hundred and fifty (one hundred plus fifty equals one hundred and fifty) or 100 + 50 = 150
Twenty five people left line 1 to join line 2.
Question - How many are in line 2 now?
Answer - Twenty five (fifty plus twenty five equals seventy five) or 50 + 25 = 75
Question - How many are in line 1 now?
Answer - One hundred and twenty five (one hundred minus twenty five equals seventy five) or 100 - 25 = 75
